Pfeiffer Lab, owned by Eric, is a California design studio providing unique solutions to the design challenges of our day. His capabilities reach far beyond product design, extending into strategic design and branding. Pfeiffer's focus is on bringing elegant and well-designed consumer products to market, based on our long experience in product development, our deep knowledge of consumers, and his extensive network of manufacturers, buyers and retailers.
Pfeiffer's reductive design approach relies on creating beauty. He uses materials honestly and addresses the real needs of end users. It is this pure design ethos, coupled with a deep understanding of usability and manufacturing, plus a casual west coast sensibility that results in our timeless products. Pfeiffer doesn't talk much about sustainability because it is a loaded term. Pfeiffer believes that well designed products are healthy for the user. And if made fairly, at the end of its useful lifecycle, it can be reused or recycled --that is, if you don't want to keep it forever. Pfeiffer works hard to bring products to market by working with materials and manufacturers in the USA, and wherever possible.
Taking advantage of the unique properties of a new material called Perennial Wood; Pfeiffer developed a line of outdoor furniture for Council, a premium furniture brand from San Francisco. The outdoor collection includes a stacking chair, lounges and a series of tables. The collection is minimal and restrained, almost utilitarian in its material use. Each piece boasts a simple curve in wood lightly resting on a powder coated rod base to create an expressive, inviting form. Perennial Wood is a beautiful, humble material providing unique aesthetics and performance characteristics not currently available for the outdoor market.
Another Pfeiffer design is the Mag Table. It is a multi-functional hybrid that serves as a table impromptu seat-with a simple flip it becomes a laptop stand. The table is constructed in bent plywood which creates a sensuous form clear in its form and multifunction. Another amazing chair is the Stact. The Stact modular system provides utilitarian storage for your wine collection while transforming your home with perfectly executed materials and finishes previously found only in modern wine cellars, high end restaurants, and wine lounges. The patent-pending wine rack design is uniquely versatile and space efficient; it's incredibly customizable and expandable to fit your space the way that you need. This is just two out of the many designs Eric Pfeiffer is known for.
